KING OF SWORDS, PART THREE A repeat of the scene where Hisoka confesses is shown, then once again we get to see Muraki open his eyes. Standing on the deck, Tsubaki-hime wondered why everyone she loved had to die. Hisoka asked if she meant Irene as well, and when Tsubaki-hime was taken aback he explained how he can read minds and saw it in her mind yesterday. She then told him Irene, a girl who sold flowers in Hong Kong, had been her only friend, and her father had let her come back to Japan with Tsubaki-hime, but on the trip to Japan Irene mysteriously died. She then asked Hisoka if he could stay by her side until they reached Hong Kong, but since she had called him Azumi (still referring to him as his guise) he corrected her, telling her to call him by his real name. Hisoka dropped her off at her room, and she assured him she'd be fine on her own and would call if she needed anything. He started off down the hallway but suddenly was struck with a vision of when Muraki had killed him, and leaned against the wall gasping for breath. Tsuzuki and Hisoka's room was filled with print-outs when Hisoka entered, and Tsuzuki explained about the microchip they had found and were yet unable to open. Tsuzuki then told Hisoka he looked pale and should get some rest, and Hisoka complied and went to sleep. At a large house somewhere a phone rang, and an unseen man answered, calling the person on the line "master", and told them that preparations were underway and he would soon go to pick them up. On the other end of the line Muraki hung up the phone and grinned. Hisoka yelled out and awoke from a nightmare about his own death, and a worried Tsuzuki sat on his bedside and asked if he were ok. Suddenly GuShoShin yelled out joyfully that he had got the file to open. Contained within were hundreds of files, and when they opened one a map of the Queen Camellia was shown with a large "x" marked on part of the cargo hold. Tsuzuki told GuShoShin to contact EnMaCho immediately. Tatsumi told Konoe about the information Tsuzuki had just sent them, and Konoe told Tatsumi to send for reinforcements and back up Tsuzuki personally. Tsuzuki and Hisoka ran off to where the "x" was marked, and as he ran past Tsubaki-hime's room Hisoka noticed the door was open and she was gone. In the hold it seemed as if there was nothing out of the ordinary, but then Tsuzuki noticed a wall that seemed strangely hollow and with Hisoka's help pulled it aside to reveal an operating room, organs in jars lining the shelves. Tsubaki-hime entered the room and lunged at Hisoka with a knife, but Hisoka easily grabbed her wrist and forced her to drop it. She asked what they were doing there, and when Hisoka called her Tsubaki-hime she corrected them, saying she was Irene, and told them the heart Tsubaki-hime had received in a transplant had been hers. Kakyoin had been selling organs on the black market which he got by luring people from Hong Kong onto the ship and then drugging them and taking their organs. Tsubaki had been Irene's friend and truly loved her, but the others were different, killing Irene and cutting up her body. Hisoka said that was why she had killed Kakyoin and his staff, and Irene said that was right and that they deserved to die. Wakabayashi died because he had been in the organ transplanting business, Muraki had performed the operation on Tsubaki and had been poisoning her ever since, Kanako had tried to blackmail Kakyoin, and Kakyoin had been the man behind it all. She was just about to tell them the name of the man who had forced Kakyoin to continue the business and truly ran the show when a shot rang out and she fell forward into Hisoka's arms. Muraki stepped into the room and said Irene had said too much. When they were surprised to see him alive he was amused that they thought he would die so easily. He had left Tsuzuki a clue by tearing the card in half to show that he was both an "advisor" and the "evil man" behind it all. He explained that Kakyoin had created the ship to find a heart for his daughter, but when he had tried to quit the business after Tsubaki-hime had Irene's heart Muraki didn't let him. Muraki hypnotized Tsubaki-hime, told her she had Irene's heart, and made her believe Irene was still alive inside of her. The medicine he gave her caused her to fall under his spell. Tsubaki-hime came around and was overjoyed when she looked up and saw Muraki standing above her. She told him she loved him, but Muraki replied that he didn't love her and took the flower she had on her dress. Hisoka grew angry and Muraki explained that love and romance were wastes of time and energy. The ship suddenly shook, and Muraki pointed out that he had placed explosives around the ship, and that he should leave. Tsuzuki asked how he thought he'd escape, and Muraki replied that he would, why else would he have cut off the radio? Muraki turned and left and Tsuzuki ran after him. Still in Hisoka's arms, Tsubaki-hime asked him if she had really seen Muraki still alive, and Hisoka sadly asked her how she could still love Muraki after all he did to her. Chasing Muraki, Tsuzuki demanded to know why he had did it. Muraki told him Tsuzuki's presence had been unexpected and had caused him to carry out the little charade, poisoning himself and the others, leaving the tarot cards, and using Irene to do his bidding. Tsubaki-hime apologized to Hisoka, saying that she had made a bet to herself that if she fell in love with Hisoka she'd give up on Muraki, but she lost. Hisoka asked why she would love someone who saw people as toys. On the deck of the ship Muraki asked Tsuzuki if he knew that organ transplanting was an art, and explained that people's bodies can reject organs but if an organ was made of the person's own cells it wouldn't be rejected. Muraki explained that he had been using the ship for research and finally saw a solution. Tsuzuki yelled at him, saying he had no respect for human life, and Muraki calmly replied with a laugh that Tsuzuki reacted very emotionally to the deaths of others and that was what Muraki liked about him. Tsuzuki lunged at Muraki but Muraki grabbed Tsuzuki's arm, pinned it to his side, and pulled Tsuzuki close. Back in the secret room Tsubaki-hime explained how she never spent much time with Muraki so she didn't know if he was good or bad, but she believed in him. Leaning in closer, Muraki told Tsuzuki at first he had thought he'd be content to only gaze at Tsuzuki, but his desire grew and with each moment he wanted him more and more. Tsuzuki stood in a daze, and Muraki kissed him on the lips, which brought Tsuzuki out of his stupor and he pushed Muraki away. More explosions rocked the ship, and a helicopter appeared which Muraki boarded. As it flew off Muraki told Tsuzuki he knew they'd meet again and Tsuzuki called out Muraki's name in rage. The screams of people filled the air as the evacuation order was given. People gathered on deck as the ship went up in flames. With all her heart Tsubaki-hime asked Hisoka to kill her. She told him not to be sad, because she knew there was someone who cared for him. Tsuzuki ran down the hallway, back to the room where he had left Hisoka. Tatsumi arrived in a helicopter and surveyed the wreckage. Hisoka leaned against the wall and Tsubaki-hime's voice was heard to continue, saying there was someone closer to him, someone who loved him. Tsuzuki found Hisoka, still leaning against the wall. In the helicopter with Tatsumi they listened as Tatsumi told them that they had rescued the passengers and would take them to Hong Kong and erase their memories of the event. Slumped forward in his chair, Hisoka quietly told Tsuzuki that he had killed Tsubaki with Muraki's gun. He opened his hands which were covered in her blood, and with tears pouring down his cheeks said the blood wouldn't wash off. Tsuzuki put his hand on his partner's shoulder and Hisoka turned and sobbed against Tsuzuki, and Tsuzuki wrapped his arms around the young Shinigami. In his own helicopter, Muraki tossed the flower he had taken from Tsubaki's chest out the window, saying how unsightly. Comments: Silly Muraki contradicts himself by telling Tsubaki that love was a waste of energy and then going off and kissing Tsuzuki. I think that this episode has one of the saddest endings of them all; when Hisoka starts sobbing I want to start sobbing as well. ;_; / BACK |
