MURAKI KAZUTAKA

The main villain of the series, appearing in three out of four arcs, Muraki is clearly one twisted individual. He's a doctor at a clinic in Tokyo, but his time is spent wreaking as much havoc as possible to bring Tsuzuki in to investigate. He has an obsession with Tsuzuki, you see, and would love nothing more than to get his hands on his beloved. He also has a passion for dolls, and whenever you see a shot of a room that he's staying in at the moment, there's always a doll sitting on the table.

Muraki's right eye is strangely demonic, and he has the ability to summon numerous monsters, put people under strong hypnosis, raise the dead, etc. Hell, I don't think there's anything he can't do. Well, there is one thing, and it is that thing which drives him insane. His father had been unfaithful to his mother, and around the same time Muraki was born his father's mistress had a son, named Saki. When Muraki was in his teens, his father brought Saki to live with him, and Muraki tried his hardest to get along with his half-brother; that is, until his parents both died. Muraki suspected Saki killed them, and when he confronted his half-brother his suspicions were confirmed. He tried to avenge his parents' death, but his loyal servant, seeing Muraki in danger, shot Saki and killed him, denying Muraki any chance for revenge.

That was basically the point in Muraki's life that began his descent into madness. Muraki preserved Saki's head and became a doctor, trying to find a way to bring his brother back to life so he can finally avenge his murdered parents. Vengeance is what made him what he is and drives him to do such unspeakable acts.

Hayami Sho gave Muraki his lovely voice. He also was The Earl and Watson in Yami no Matsuei, and other roles of his include Nicholas D. Wolfwood from Trigun and Orson in Record of Lodoss War.
